Django Gets Intermediate Models
With Changeset 8136 Django gains the ability to specify intermediate models in a declarative way. This makes it possible to have extra attributes on your many-to-many join table. Check out the docs for more information.

Oh, I’m not complaining about the extra model—it’s just not much change from what I’ve been doing all along. I guess the benefit is that you get to use a few more ORM methods like select_related, etc.?

Ummm… You still have to specify an extra model. I don’t see much new functionality in this. Seems like ManyToManyField window dressing on what you could already do.
